  • So I keep getting emails that Xanga misses me....so I thought I'd post something!  Not too much interesting going on around here.  Been busy with Jennie's wedding coming up at the end of this month!  We've had a couple of showers, bachelorette party, and have another shower to go!  It's so exciting!  I'm not sure who is more excited me or her.

  • So having surgery on your ankle is not fun!!!  For starters there is the allergic reaction to the iv antibiotic the day of surgery and the bad reaction to the anesthesia so I didn't get to go home until late that afternoon.  Then for the next 3 days I couldn't put any pressure on my foot.  Going around 1 footed is not easy.  Going to the bathroom and taking a shower were major chores!  I had to have people help me - blah.  I must give great thanks to my friend, Berri, because without her those 3 days would not have been possible for several reasons.  Monday night after we had arrived back at the house from the hospital at 4 pm my mom and boyfriend had to take my Grandmother to the hospital.  Berri came over because my 68 year old dad wasn't about to help me to the bathroom.  Mom didn't arrive home until 4 am.  So not wanting to leave me alone while going back and forth to the hospital Berri stayed so my Mom was free to be where she needed to be.

Friday the doc put me in a walking boot and said I could put pressure on it as I could tolerate it.  Yeah right.  Lets put the foot with a incision and 5 stitches in a snug boot to walk where it rubs against the incision.  Hmmm...so still trying to walk.  I can put pressure on it but not able to walk because the boot still moves and rubs some.  Grrr.

Grandmother is ok, too.  She's not back to where she was before but is better.  She apparently has been having small strokes and she fell Saturday and got a bump on her head which turned the strokes into seizures.  Fun stuff.  She came home Thursday so all is well.

  • Good News - I'm finally posting pics from my trip to Paris!!  Bad news - I am having surgery on my ankle a week from today :(

I had a fabulous time in Paris with Anna!  Lots and Lots of fun and walking too!  It was great having Anna as a tour guide because she knows her way around so well with the different bus lines, train lines, and metro lines.  Talk about confusing!  I just followed along.

    Paris 002 Aren't we cute?

Paris 022 Anna and I stopped to play patty cake with some monkey's in the Louvre - quite fun :)

Paris 024 Found a mummy just laying around - very neat I must say.  Learned some stuff about mummy's I didn't realize before.  Unfortunately the Louvre is sooooo huge that we couldn't see the whole thing.

Paris 030 Outside of the Louvre (well only part of it)

Paris 036 Me and Anna with the Effiel Tower behind us

Paris 041 Map of the Metro/Train system - yikes!

Paris 045 Yep had to go down this street - only went into 2 stores though.  But at least I can say I've been there!

Paris 074This is a picture of the stair case I got to climb up at Anna's apartment.  She is on the 4th floor and if you take them fast enough you can kinda get dizzy!

Paris 088 Me and Anna at a starbucks.  Let me tell you I have never been in a starbucks in the US.  But I went into 3 and had some coffee from a 4th even though I didn't go in that last one.  It wasn't too bad but Anna is a Starbucks junkie and knows where 14? of them are in the greater Paris area. (I maybe a little off on the number but I know it is over 10)

Paris 102 A lovely picture from the 1st level of the Effiel Tower.  Very pretty!  You can see very far.  But I didn't go to the top.

Paris 118 Notre Dame.  Very old and very beautiful.  We were a little late for Mass but I still walked around and enjoyed all of the architecture and history.

Paris 150 This is Sacre Couer (i may have spelled it wrong).  We went here and ate in this little artsy area right behind it.  The area was so like out of a movie or something.  We tried to find a painting for Anna's roomie but did not find the one she wanted.  Unfortunately we didn't have time to go in but I was happy with just seeing the outside anyways.  This is one of my favorite pictures because the sky comes out the color it appears as here if I get the pics developed at Sams.

I'm very appreciative to Anna for letting me have the chance to come to Paris and see her since I've only gotten to see her one time before my trip in almost 2 years.  It was lots of fun - even though I complained of walking miles a day.  It was good for me!  I enjoyed going to an English speaking church in Paris and meeting a bunch of the people she knows in Paris.  It was fun learning new cultures.

  • Ok so many things have happened that I have to write about and post some pics.  The first is I got a new puppy!!  Her name is Charlie's Hersheys Cocoa registered with the AKC, but we just call her Cocoa.  She is a chocolate lab which explains all of the chocolate in her name and her daddy is Charlie owned by Cathy and her hubby.  She is soooo cute.  Very energetic too.  She jumps off of the side of the pool to go get balls out of the water, tortures Scrappy my other pooch, tries to put the kittens heads in her mouth, and chews on EVERYTHING!  She is going to be rather large too.  She just went to the vet for her 12 week old shots and she weighed 25 lbs.  This is a older picture of her she is much larger now!

Did I mention I got 2 kittens???  Hmmm suppose I should do that too.  We got 2 kittens from Cathy 's aunt.  They are cute too but of course my heart belongs to the dogs but I love cats too.  They are Shadow (grey) and Kujo (calico).  At first they didn't get along too well with Rocky, my 3 year old cat, but they are fine now.  They all clean each other and sleep together.  The only time things get hairy is feeding time.

Next major thing that happened - I got my passport!!!!

And my tickets to Paris!!  Anna here I come :)

I've been on "vacation" this week with my family.  I went to Charleston for the weekend and stayed with my parents friends, Loretta and Mack, it was nice.  I got to see both of my sisters and their houses.  My oldest that has had a good many problems in life seems to me doing ok for now.  Then we went to the mountains yesterday and spent the night.  It was nice too - I wish I had more time up there to go to all the little shops that are just tooo cute nestled away on the mountain roads.  Maybe one day I'll have time to go there without someone elses agenda and no time schedule.  But it is back to work tomorrow :(  Oh well it won't be long before I will have over a week off again to go to Paris.  I leave for Philly on the 29th, catch my plane on the 30th and arrive on the morning of the 31st in Paris!!  Yay!!!
